Upgrade wallet in Self-Custody

It is extremely important that you keep your recovery phrase (also known as seed or mnemonic phrase) private and secure, as it provides access to your wallet and therefore your crypto. We suggest you keep a physical copy as digital records and screenshots can be compromised.

When you graduate to a self-custodial wallet, you are simply migrating your wallet to another provider. This means that your wallet address and private key remain the same, as do the contents of your wallet. It is not necessary to transfer your crypto and digital collectibles in order to continue using them.

An email wallet is a web-based wallet that you create using your email address. You don't need to download an app, install a browser extension, or note down a recovery phrase. You can simply connect to a web3 app using your email address and input the login code you receive by email.

You can send and receive crypto, as well as log in to web3 apps.

It's easy! All you have to do is enter your email address when you log in to a web3 app. Input the login code you receive by email to create and start using your email wallet.

You can use your email wallet to log in to any app that supports the latest version of AppKit.

A self-custodial wallet is a type of crypto wallet where the wallet owner possesses full control over the wallet's private key, instead of relying on a third-party. Having complete control over the wallet's private key means that only you can access and manage the wallet's crypto holdings; it also means that you should keep your private key secure and backed up, as losing or giving others access could result in lost funds.

When you decide to upgrade from an email wallet to a self-custodial wallet, you are essentially migrating your existing wallet to a self-custodial wallet provider.
